Why aren't my Tooletries products sticky?

Our original Silicone Grip products use a unique 100% Silicone Grip Technology, which works differently from traditional adhesives.

Unlike sticky adhesives or suction cups, Silicone Grip products rely on the natural gripping properties of silicone to create a secure hold on suitable surfaces.

How does it work?

  • Made from 100% silicone
  • Not sticky or tacky to the touch
  • No drilling, suction cups, or permanent fixtures required
  • Designed for smooth, shiny, non-porous bathroom surfaces

Because Silicone Grip products are not adhesive-backed, they will not feel sticky when removed from the packaging. This is completely normal and does not affect performance when installed correctly.

What surfaces are Silicone Grip products suitable for?

Our Silicone Grip products work best on smooth, shiny, non-porous surfaces.

Suitable surfaces include:

  • Glass
  • Mirrors
  • Glossy tiles
  • Smooth acrylic surfaces
  • Smooth metal surfaces

For best results, ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from soap residue before installation.

What surfaces are Silicone Grip products NOT suitable for?

Silicone Grip products are not designed for porous, textured, or uneven surfaces.

These include:

  • Matte tiles
  • Textured tiles
  • Natural stone
  • Timber
  • Painted walls
  • Wallpaper
  • Rough or porous surfaces

Because these surfaces contain tiny air pockets, Silicone Grip Technology may not create a reliable hold.

How long should I wait before using my product?

For best results, leave your Silicone Grip product undisturbed for 12 hours after installation.

This allows the silicone grip to settle properly against the surface and helps maximise holding strength.

Troubleshooting

Why won't my product stick?

The most common reasons are:

  • The surface is not suitable.
  • The surface was not cleaned before installation.
  • Soap scum, oils, or cleaning products are present.
  • The product has been installed on a textured or porous surface.
  • The product has not been left to settle for 12 hours before use.

Why did my product lose grip or fall off?

Over time, dust, soap residue, cleaning products, and moisture buildup can affect the performance of Silicone Grip Technology.

Products may also lose grip if:

  • The installation surface is unsuitable.
  • The product has been moved or repositioned multiple times.
  • The surface was not cleaned before installation.
  • The product is supporting more weight than intended.

Cleaning both the product and installation surface will often restore performance.

How do I restore the grip if my product stops sticking?

To restore the grip:

  1. Remove the product from the wall.
  2. Rinse the silicone surface under warm water.
  3. Gently remove any dust, hair, or residue.
  4. Allow the product to air dry completely.
  5. Reinstall onto a clean, dry, suitable surface.
  6. Leave the product undisturbed for 12 hours before use.

This will often restore much of the original grip.

Yes. Silicone Grip products can typically be removed, cleaned, and reapplied to suitable surfaces multiple times.

Over time, dust, soap residue, and general wear may affect performance. Regular cleaning of both the product and installation surface will help maintain the best possible grip.

Can I remove my Silicone Grip product?

Yes.

Silicone Grip products can be removed by gently peeling them away from the surface.

Avoid pulling sharply or using excessive force during removal.

Before reinstalling, we recommend cleaning both the product and the new surface to ensure the best possible grip.

How do I clean and care for my Silicone Grip product?

To keep your product performing at its best:

  • Clean regularly with warm water and mild soap.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners.
  • Remove soap scum and residue as needed.
  • Allow the product to dry before reinstalling if removed.

Routine cleaning will help maintain both appearance and performance.

How long is the warranty on Silicone Grip products?

Tooletries Silicone Grip products are backed by a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects.
